On Friday 13 April a team of Class 5 Boys represented our school at Barnsley FC Academy. Our team were placed in a difficult group but thanks to the outstanding football talent present amongst the team, we managed to win every group game qualifying as group leaders to the final stages of the tournament. The team played a superb quarter final but were narrowly outplayed by a Year 6 team consisting of 4 Academy players who went on to win the overall tournament.
On the day, Bruce Dyer took the time to approach our players personally to let them know how impressed he was at the standard of players present in our school.
Mrs Cartwright said “As the parent responsible for the team on the day I cannot tell you how proud I was of the team. Not just of the phenomenal talent on display but of the attitudes of every player. They represented their school placing Silkstone Primary School right up there with some of the best football teams in the area and should be recognised for the mature, fantastic attitude they brought to the tournament on the day. I do hope the boys get recognised not just for the ability as footballers which are superb, but for their polite, mature and exemplary attitudes to representing their school – a complete credit to Silkstone Primary School and one that should be applauded!”

Thank you to Mrs Cartwright and the other parents who accompanied our team to the tournament.

Well done boys – you are a real credit to yourselves and our school and we are very proud of you.
