Chocolate Rocks

Class 3 have really enjoyed some science experiments. We have made two types of chocolate rocks, Sedimentary and Igneous.  We made the sedimentary rocks by putting different colours of grated chocolate onto a piece of tinfoil and squashing it together.  When we snapped it the different layers of rock were shown.  The sedimentary rocks were quite fragile.  We made tinfoil moulds for our igneous rocks and then poured melted chocolate into them.  When they had cooled and solidified we peeled the tinfoil off them to look at the patterns in our new rock.  The igneous rock was much harder than the sedimentary rock. The most popular part of the experiment was licking our fingers and eating the rocks.
