Class 5 recently visited Speedwell Cavern in Castleton. The children took a boat trip along the subterranean canal to the main cavern, where they learnt about the geology of the area. Originally a lead mine, the site is now a tourist attraction. Following the trip down the mine, Class 5 walked into Castleton village and visited the local museum. The children enjoyed the visit and some children mentioned their plan to return to the area and attempt to climb Mam Tor! Thanks to B’s mum for helping with our Class trip.
