As part of a government healthy eating scheme, all children in KS1 are offered a free piece of fruit or vegetable every day.
When children move up to KS2 the free fruit is no longer available to them but as a healthy school we gladly encourage them to bring a piece of fresh fruit from home to eat at play time. This is a healthy option for those children who might be feeling a little hungry mid morning or mid afternoon, as well as benefiting from the obvious recommendation of eating at least ‘5-a-day’.
Children in KS2 can bring in any of the following fresh items – apple, pear, banana, carrot, seedless grapes, easy peel citrus (satsumas, clementines), strawberries or mange tout peas. Due to the risk of allergies please do not send any kiwi fruits into school.
If you would like your child to eat more fruit please give them one item to pop in their book bag ready for play time.
## Please note that any other type of snacks such as rice cakes, dried fruit, fruit chew bars, yogurt bars etc are not permitted at playtimes. ##
