We were very lucky to have some BBC Philharmonic Orchestra musicians come into our school and work with over 60 of our KS2 children recently. We listened to a whole school assembly where they performed their instruments and taught us a new song with actions. After that the children who were working with them listened to a BBC ten pieces song called No Place Like by a composer called Kerry Andrews. We then created a soundscape of different ideas about what we think of when we think about home. We used our instruments to create a variety of sounds and put them all together to create apiece for our orchestra. In the afternoon we performed it for parents and the rest of KS2. Choir also had a workshop where they taught us a new song called Heave Ho. It is a sea shanty about a sailor sailing home and choir created their own lyrics to the song.
