Dear Parents and Carers

On Friday at 12pm we are planning to take the children to watch the ‘caravan’ drive through the village. We will then return to school and eat our lunch as a picnic (weather permitting). Children will need their water bottle from home.

If you are planning to watch the race and would like to collect your child early from school, the window of opportunity to do this will be 1.15pm to 1.45pm; otherwise children will remain with their teachers until 3.30pm. You will need to come into school and sign them out.  It would be really helpful if you could let the office know in the morning if you plan to collect your child.

After lunch we will then take our positions to welcome the riders through the village. We are hoping that Foundation and Key Stage One will be sitting on the grass verge near the front gates, Years 3 and 4 on the verge at the corner and then Years 5 and 6 are going to walk up the hill.  You are very welcome to come along and watch the race with your child’s class if you wish.

We appreciate that there is likely to be heavy traffic as a result of the road closures and that there may be some delay in children being collected from school at 3.30pm.  The roads from the motorway roundabout will be open and access to cone lane via Dodworth and Silkstone Common, where you should be able to park if High Street is not reopened in time for pick up.

The children have really enjoyed the Tour de Silkstone, organised by Mr Simon and are looking forward to seeing the race tomorrow.

Kind regards
