We are sorry to inform you that Mrs Griffin, who held the post of Business Manager at our school for 14 years and retired in 2016, died on April 1st in Weston Park hospital after a short illness, bravely endured.
Mrs Griffin who had worked in the Education system for 34 years, was a valuable asset for our school with her vast knowledge and experience. From running the office, sorting out the school budget/finances and being present at  governors meetings taking minutes and supplying necessary information, she could always be relied upon to support the school and staff. She generously  found time in her busy working day to listen and offer advice to anyone in need. Her kindness meant she made many friends at school with whom she mixed socially. Her company was always appreciated as she had a wonderful sense of humour and infectious laugh.
Avril’s greatest love was her family and she often lovingly spoke of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very proud of them all and enjoyed nothing more than spending as much time with them as possible. She was also very creative and would spend hours sewing, knitting and baking, usually always for other people. At our school fayre in 2015 she worked hard for weeks to make enough items to fill a whole stall all by herself. Gardening was another one of her passions and the love with which she tended  her plants was evident when you walked round her beautiful garden.
People who came into contact with Avril will have their own special memories, but everyone is in agreement that she was definitely a wonderful  lady who will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
Our sincere condolences go to her family at this difficult time.
